I bought this laptop about 2 months ago and it came with Vista Home Premium.
It worked fine the first week and then after that, that 2-computer icon on
the bottom right hand corner of the screen (right side of the tasbar) gives
an 'X' as if i'm not connected at all. Normally it wouldn't have that and I
am connected to the internet. Anyway, my problem is I haven't been able to
fix that and I don't know what causes it. It just bugs me.

Another problem is with the network sharing center window. It gets stuck! It
freezes on me. It doesn't show the connections like it's supposed to. It
doesn't even let me click on anything. I open it and it's frozen from the
beginning. What do I do to fix this problem?

HELP?!?

also, one more thing. HP total care advisor started freezing up on me a week
after i got this computer. Everything just started going awry after a while.
Sad

I had the same event on my HP desktop. I do not allow the HP total care
advisor to update. Then I restored the system to a time when networking did
network. That resolved my problem.

Try this:

1. In the Start Search box type cmd and press [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[Enter]
(simultaneously)
2. At the command prompt type Net localgroup Administrators localservice /add
and press [Enter]
3. Reboot the PC

I got this answer from Arie (Administrator Microsoft MVP/windowsbbs) and it
worked in seconds! No more frozen network sharing center and my connections
are
up and running perfectly!
