0x80004005 is E_FAIL. Use the dependency walker tool (
www.dependencywalker.com ) to make sure the dependent DLL's are present in
the path.

You give no information about your computer, edition of Vista, whether x86
or x64, or when this error occurs. Sorry.

I did Google on "0x80004005" and searched on microsoft.com on "0x80004005"
and got lots of hits so I suggest you do that.

I got the dependecywalker tool and have no idea what it does or how to run
it. I have the exact problem that chriskli21 has. I'm running windows vista
and the exact problem happened when itunes would not run, uninstall, or
finish intalling. I'm tired of searching forums can someone help me with
detail please? I'm usually good at figuring these things out.

I believe that this is due to some oddities in Vista security. Although I am
logged on with an account that is in the Administrators group, I got the same
error. However, if I start the Command Processor (cmd.exe) with 'Run as
Administrator' and then enter the command below (regsvr32 ...) again, it
completed without error.

Hope that works for you.

Is this the one that shows up as Code 5? If
so has any cure been found that will allow you
to be able to update Vista? Just curious as
I am still running the orig as I have never
been able to update as I keep getting Code 5
as a failure to upgrade. But no problems either
