Hi,

The 'Date Modified' column doesn't appear on any of my folders. I add it,
and when i browse away from that folder and return to it, it's disappeared
again. How do i get every folder to show that column by default?

Thanks,
Albert

A known Vista annoyance, already solved in Windows7.
There're several solutions invlving Registry edit which sets your Template
for a specific filetype to what you want, not to MS default - if you Google
or Bing for it it should showuo in search results. Sorry I don't have exact
URL at hand.
it i

I know it's frustrating, but it's fixed in Windows7.
I can also tell you something odd;
after repeated resetting WinExplorer to appearance/columns I wish, somehow
it started to memorize them more & more often.
I never applied that solution mentioned baove, but somehow the problem is
reducing in intensity over time.
WinExdplorer here finally remembers appearances much of the time, sometimes
I create a NEW folder with for example images and it goes back to default
columsn - date taken, camera, artist, tags, etc rubbish I never need, and
have to manually reset it back to my over 15 YEARS OLD habit of showing List
View w/filename, size, type (+ sometimes date modified), nothign else.
Then next time I open it, it remembers, it used to be really bad but now
tolerable.

All I can say - if you get Windows7, most of these annoyances are fixed. I
am using a new HP laptop and whenever have to go back to old Vista laptop,
feel displeased!

Hello Albert,

You can use the download in METHOD TWO of the tutorial below to reset
all folder view settings to have the "Date Modified" column.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
