I've used the internalsearch function & got a hit for Turn Off Magnifier.
It linked me to magnifier which only allows me to turn it on! I've searched
the discussion groups & found some suggestions, but I couldn't make them work.

I boot up, the magnifier turns on, I manually turn it off & reboot; there it
is again. I went to see what programs run on startup & it's not there.

Could someone please please walk me through the process so that it doesn't
automatically turn on.?

Thanks

Thanks,

Go to *Control Panel* and look *below* the *Ease Of Access icon* Select
*Optimize Visiual Display* a screen called Make Compter Easier to see
will come up.
*Scroll down to the magnifier* and *uncheck* the magnifier selection
Then *click on the Apply* button

Check your mouse settings. Maybe one of the buttons of the mouse is set to
magnifier and you pressed that button. Change that function from one of
you mouse settings.

I have had the same problem. It seems when my cursor touches the left side
of the screen the magnfier comes on and you can't turn it off until you
restart the computer. I followed the suggestion to go to the control panel
for Ease of Access and clicked on Optimize the Display. However, the
magnifier is unchecked. This is a continuing nuisance and happens a lot. Is
there a way to turn of the Ease of Access capability? I looked in the
Windows options list but saw no listing for turning off individual
capabilites such as this.

Hi, Path Rider.

A couple of weeks ago, I had practically the same problem, except that the
Magnifier stayed on all the time; touching the side of the screen did not
toggle it own. After a frustrating day, I posted a plea for help in the
microsoft.public.windowsxp.accessibility newsgroup and quickly got a
response from a poster named Byte:
> You do not get a small window with an Exit button? Once activated
> check the Taskbar for the Magnifier and rightclick and click Close.

To which I replied:
> NOW I see that on the Taskbar! Where was it this morning? I looked all
over for something and never found it. :>( I'm using Vista, so it might be
different from WinXP.

Ease of Access page, under Make the computer easier to see, I found the
checkbox, unchecked it and Applied it.

It seems you've already tried that, though, so I'm not sure what else to
suggest. This was my first visit to the accessibility newsgroup, but they
quickly solved my problem. Perhaps a visit there would be your best hope.

Hi all

Looking for a bit of help with a similar problem. my grandfather had
bought the microsoft comfort optical mouse 3000 to use the magnify button to
enable him to see the screen better. he had to get a new computer and
wonderful vista is installed. however vista has a much worse magnify tool
that does not move to the same effect as the software on the mouse. However,
the magnify button on the mouse no longer works. I believe its a conflict
with vista. I did notice that I cannot change any of the mouse's button to
other functions as well. any help would be appreciated.

thanks
