Post subject: Saving audio file in wav instead of wma
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>music_pictures_video (more info?)

I need to record audio files in wav format but Vista automatically saves it
in wma and doesn't give me the option of using another format. Anyone know
how to change the settings to allow me to save my files in wav instead?

just type in

soundrecorder /file outputfile.wav

record then it save, it will be a wav file

WMM imports .avi file as audio only - I can play my .avi's in WMP fine, but when I import to Windows Movie Maker it only imports the audio (even though WMM recognizes it as a video file with an ..avi extension). I get no error messages anywhere.

.avi files imports as audio file - When I try to import an .avi file, it won't go onto the timeline as a video file, only as an audio file. What can I do to get the .avi files to get onto the video timeline?
