Wow!

I have the same problem as you do.

Well, I just fixed my problem thanks to your post. Tell ya what I did below.

I installed i-tunes just last night and completely lost my CD/DVD
burner/recorder.

After hours of searching through all the help files on my CP and in
Microsoft I came across this discussion board, and am I glad I did! THANK YOU
SO MUCH!

After reading of your problems and comparing your problem to mine very
quickly I might add figured I'd - DO THE FOLLOWING!

1) Click the start button
2) Click Control Panel
3) Click Uninstall a Program
4) Left Click on i-tunes and then Click on un-install
5) I also un-installed it the quick play that came along with i-tunes.
6) I then restarted my lap top and that is it!

Just wanted to thank you and to let you know what I did to regain control of
my unit. THANKS! Smile

I just had this last night on my new Acer Aspire 5920 notebook. The solution
was to go into safe mode and restore. Didn't read about the iTunes issues
before then but the restore point that worked was before I installed iTunes.
Suffice to say iTunes will remain on my XP computer only!

I have the same problem, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with
I-tunes. This is a brand new laptop (the computer of my dreams) and I lose
my CD/DVD drive every couple of days. The only answer I get from support is
to adjust the filters on my computer.

It doesn't seem like I should have to do this every 2 or 3 days on my new
computer. What a drag! If I had a choice, I would go back to XP. This
isn't right, and microsoft should address this quickly, rather than tell us
to adjust our computers.

i also experienced losing DVD/CD ROM drive when i installed i-tunes in
my PC running OS VISTA Home Premium. i did -system restore- and the
drive went back. similarly, error code 10.. at first i thought apple is
not compatible with Vista knowing the latter having many compatibility
issues..

Now here's the deal.. i installed Norton 360 antivirus and same thing
occurred.. running system restore would mean i will lose the antivirus
program.. need help guys...
